Benguet Tourist Spots

1. Mt. Pulag

Mount Pulag is one of the highest peaks in the Philippines, measures 2,922 MASL. It is also one of the most beautiful mountains in the Philippines, therefore, you should include this on your list. On the other hand, on its summit, hikers can witness the famous “sea of clouds," a majestic phenomenon where visitors are literally above the clouds.

Mt. Ulap

Mt. Ulap

It is one of the highest peaks (Elevation: 1,846 MASL) in the Cordillera region, with amazing flora and fauna. Because of its temperature, the trees, grass, and flowers look so healthy, making the mountain look gorgeous. Our itinerary was, instead of a public vehicle, we chartered a van for our transportation to the North. Thirteen of us met at Crossing, including Rio, our Chinese visitor. From Manila to Baguio City took us six hours of travel, so instead of getting bored while on the road and the rains were dropping, it was filled with stories of our previous hikes.

Mt. Ugo

Mt. Ugo

Traversing Mt. Ugo is a bit long because it is one of the giants in Luzon. Our traverse was a two-day hiking itinerary from Brgy. Kayapa, Nueva Vizacaya to Itogon, Benguet. The terrain has a relaxing and cool ambiance, surrounded by stunning greens. This mountain bears colorful ornaments spread on the trails and hanging on the trees. Of course, birds are singing their lullabies, definitely one of the must-visit attractions and destinations in Benguet.

Mt Timbak

The stunning view on the summit of Mt Timbak.

Introduction:

I've been hearing from friends that this mountain and Mt. Tabayoc are just two of the must hiked mountains in the Cordilleras. In terms of altitude, Mt. Timbak stands at 2,717 MASL and garnered an easy trail class - which I think is true. Among the provinces in CAR, Benguet is really a bomb and prominent to tourists, especially hikers, because of its rich forested mountain slopes, hike-relaxing ambiance, and beauty that can only be found in nature, plus a glimpse of the local livelihood.

Bakun Trio

This event was an urgent decision. We met at Victory Liner Bus Terminal in Cubao and rode in a bus bound for Baguio. From Baguio City, we chartered a jeep to Bakun, Benguet. Travel time was within 4-5 hours. But before reaching our destination, we passed by different landmarks of the North, one of which was the Highest Point (photo above). The entire travel period was an adjustment period for our group and other participants.

Mt Tabayoc

An amazing view on the summit of Mt. Tabayoc.

One of the most prominent mountains in Luzon is Mt. Tabayoc because it is the second highest mountain in Luzon (2842 MASL) and is one of the most preserved virgin forests in the Philippines, with a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna. Your hiking experience will definitely be rewarded with the breathtaking beauty of the sea of clouds, an artistic view of the surrounding terraces, cool weather, a relaxing green ambience, and a life-changing tranquillity by the lake. Also, there are a lot of mouth-watering low-cost and fresh-harvest vegetables in the area.

Mt. Tenglawan

Mt. Tenglawan

Among the Bakun Trio mountains, Mt. Tenglawan is the most difficult to hike because of its long terrain and assault, although its trail class and technicalities can be placed to a moderate level. Also, this mountain has an amazing shape from afar. Based on how it looks and its shape, this giant can be compared to Mt. Guiting-guiting in Romblon.

Bakun Trio: Mt. Lobo and its Misty Summit

Mt. Lobo
For our Bakun Trio, our first destination was Mt. Lobo, others call it Lubo but its local name is Patullok which means “pointed.” The trail is easy to moderate passing on the road and by the resident’s houses. Majority of the trails are well established and very open to the sun’s UV rays. Its terrain is composed of virgin forest, farmlands, and woodlands. Photos below were taken while I was walking on the trail.

I Fell in Love with Tekip Falls

Tekip Falls
Tekip Falls is just one of the amazing waterfalls in Bakun, Benguet. It’s a 75-80 feet waterfalls situated in one of the hidden sides of Bakun ranges. It’s a 30-45 minutes’ walk from the old municipal hall, passing on the pilapil. Tekip has crystal clear, cold and fresh waters free flowing from different parts of the mountains. Its water pressure is also perfect for the soared muscles.
