The Fort Pilar Shrine, in Zamboanga City, was founded as a southern outpost of Spanish domain under the supervision of Mechor de Vera, 1635; attacked by the Duch, 1646; deserted when troops were concentrated in Manila to drive away Chinese pirates, 1663; reconstructed by the Society of Jesus, 1666; rebuilt under the management of Juan Sicarra, 1719; stormed by Dalasi, King of Sulig, with 3,000 Moros, 1720; cannonaded by the British, 1798; witnessed the mutiny of the seventy prisoners, 1872; abandoned by the Spaniards, 1898; occupied by the Americans under General J.C. Gates, 1899; seized by the Japanese, 1942; taken over by the Republic of the Philippines, 4 July 1946." - information from the Historical Marker. Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Arts

The Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Arts is inside the MSU Campus and is one of the must-visit tourist destinations in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. Dr. Mamitua D. Saber founded the museum on June 13, 1962, and was inaugurated on March 23, 1969. The University Folks Arts Center was renamed Aga Khan Museum to honour Aga Khan IV, who donated the current museum building. By the way, the Aga Khan Museum holds the largest Filipino Muslim collections in the Philippines.

Tarak Ridge (Mt. Mariveles)

This mountain has a good combination of breathtaking beauty, an elegant skyline, cool and temperate weather, and abundant flora and fauna, making it one of the hiker's top destinations in Bataan. By the way, it was my first major hike, and after five years, I am here again. Our journey is totally different because last time, it was the wet season, and this time, it was super dry.

Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum

Ang mansyon ng mga Aguinaldo o Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine sa Kawit, Cavite ay isa sa mga lumang istruktura na aking gustong maabot at ngayong araw, naabot ko rin ito sa wakas. Galing ng Baclaran, ang probinsya ng Cavite ay halos isang oras lamang  na biyahe dahil sa Cavitex na nagpagaan ng trapiko sa lugar. Sa post ko kahapon, ipinakita ko sa inyo ang maaliwalas na bakuran ng mansyon. Ngayon, loob naman ng mansyon ang aking ibabahagi.

National Museum of Natural History

The National Museum of Natural History in Manila recently opened with a bang! They open their doors, cases, and glass cabinets to everyone, offering extremely rare items that can only be found here for FREE. The National Museum staff and researchers exerted their effort to preserve and keep these items for the next generation. It is my and your wealth! So, what are you waiting for? Tara na!

Berlin Wall at Philippine National Museum

After seeing on Facebook that the National Museum of the Philippines has FREE admission for the whole month of May 2016, we chose to spend the whole day inside the museum rather than watching TV, with the hot election in the mainstream. It is better to be in front of historical artifacts than listen to some people for their political agenda.

National Museum of Fine Arts

A few days after my solo backpacking at the Museum of the Filipino People, it is the second part of Oktubre ang Buwan ng mga Museo. These two buildings of the National Museum of the Philippines are just a few steps away from each other. Also, they both have historical values in the country and played a huge part in preserving and restoring the ancient and modern artifacts of the Philippines.

Cata-Al World War 2 Museum

The Cata-Al World War 2 Museum started as a private personal collection but was expanded as a museum to let the new generation see what things were used during the Second World War. The collection includes ammunition such as guns, bayonets, and grenades. Also, there are old radios, transmitters, bags, army and navy uniforms and magazines related to the Second World War. Other Japanese memorabilia include costumes, tablewares, and many more. Cata-Al is a newly developed tourist spot and destination in Valencia, Negros Oriental.

Jose Cojuanco Mansion

This is the old and original house of Jose Chichioco Cojuangco (July 3, 1896-August, 1976). He was the former Representative of the 1st district of the province of Tarlac from 1934 to 1946.  He is one of the roots of the Cojuangco clan, and he is the father of the late President of the Philippines, Corazon Aquino, and grandfather of the late President Benigno Aquino III. This historical landmark is situated on Paseo del Congreso Street, just a few meters from Barasoain Church and Casa Real Shrine.

Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery

It is a burial site which is 15 meters below a small chapel, a chapel which was designed for funeral masses in 1845 by Franciscan Priests led by Fr. Vicente Velloc. In the Philippines, burial sites are situated in different spots, like hanging in Ifugao, placed inside the cave in Palawan and Cagayan, and concrete crypt (in the modern era). This burial site is unique because of its architectural design and purpose.
