Davao City Tourist Spots

Davao City Tourist Spots

1. People's Park

Davao City is the center of Mindanao, so it serves as the gateway to the different provinces in the region. With that in mind, culturally speaking, the city showcases the mixture of the different cultures and traditions of Christians, Muslims and other minorities. Regardless of what they believe, the people unite, create and nourish the city as their home. Though it is highly urbanized, behind the structures and commercial establishments are hidden tourist spots and destinations waiting to be uncovered. Let us discover some of the must-visit.

MY RECOMMENDATION: The traffic here is also bad, especially during rush hours, so going to the above-mentioned destinations might eat up a lot of time. I recommend to just use your Google Maps and walk on the streets. The most convenient mode of transportation to Davao Crocodile Park is via taxi (around 200 pesos one way). If in doubt, always ask the locals or the traffic enforces, they are very welcoming!

OTHER TOURIST SPOTS AND DESTINATIONS: Lon Wa Temple, Mindanao Taoist, Freedom Park, Roxas Night Market, Davao Butterfly Garden, Philippine Eagle Center, Should try crocodile sisig, Museo Dabawenyo (Located at Women's College), D’ Bone Collector Museum

HOW TO GET HERE: From Manila, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Air Asia and other carriers have regular trips. From the airport, take a taxi to any point in the city.

WHERE TO STAY: I stayed at D'Morvie Suites (San Pedro) for only 448 Pesos for 24 hours. The room has flat screen TV, AC, toilet and bath, WiFi (very slow reception). What's good in D'Morvie Suites is that the building is new, clean, affordable and accessible but has limited spaces for hallways, elevator and etc. For a person on a tight budget like me, overall - it's a YES for me!
