Nilandingan Cove on Cagbalete Island is a hidden paradise off the coast of Mauban, Quezon, offering serene white-sand shores and crystal-clear waters, perfect for a peaceful island escape. This unspoiled destination captivates visitors with its quiet charm, mangrove forests, and breathtaking sunsets—ideal for campers and beach lovers seeking solitude and natural beauty.
Though it's a tiring 4-5 hours of land travel from Manila, we were greeted by its remarkable scenery. Upon arrival, we discovered that this paradise is not just about the shoreline; it also offers crystal-clear, cool waters, lovely cottages, and a relaxing ambiance. By the way, we held our 9th Anniversary here.
How to Get to Cagbalete Island
We chartered a van to Mauban, Quezon. Then, chartered a boat to the resort. The resort's caretakers greeted us with a smile and offered a welcome drink before we checked in. The resort has a large land area and is surrounded by hardwood trees that create a relaxing ambiance while preserving tranquility. There is green grass where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the magnificence of nature without too many people.

The beauty of Cagbalete Island: The resort has a shared kitchen, but we were the only group who used it. It was the spot where we reminisced about our past. We recalled the stories of happiness and the not-so-happy events we encountered in the past 9 years. Though we're not complete, our memories with all the members were intact. It was really unlimited storytelling while preparing for our lunch, during our lunch, and even after lunch. Rested for 30 minutes and started preparing our milk tea with Rio.
Camping by the beach - the facility is not like your preferred 5-star hotel or resort, but it has everything, from unlimited fresh water to a kitchen area and clean toilets and baths. There is an electrical supply from a generator set; however, it is limited from 6 PM to 6 AM. The villas and cottages have electric fans, power outlets, mattresses, and pillows. This accommodation can fit 5-6 people and is a regular size.
The Golden Sunset
The best part of Nilandingan Cove is the stunning sunset and sunrise. Your lazy afternoon can be extended until sunset thanks to the cool breeze, while the sky turns a mix of blue, gray, and stunning gold. Also, during low tide, the narrow stretch of shoreline widened into a super wide one. On the other hand, this part of the Island offers a wide view of the sunrise.
I left Nilandingan Cove with a new memory —one that cannot be replaced and will be cherished as I face different stages of life. Batang Hamog Mountaineers is not a group; it is my extended family. Leaving this paradise will not be the end; we might not see each other in a few months, but our love and friendship will not be tarnished by time.
Whether you’re camping by the shore, swimming in its calm waters, or simply enjoying the scenic island life, Nilandingan Cove promises a raw and unforgettable tropical experience. It’s one of those off-the-beaten-path destinations that remind you of the Philippines’ timeless coastal allure—simple, pure, and incredibly beautiful.
