Borawan Island

Borawan Island, a small island with a stretch of fine white sand shoreline, surrounded by crystal clear waters, cool and relaxing ambiance and amazing rock formation. It's name is the combination of Boracay, for its fine white sand, and Palawan because of the rock formation. A few years ago, this island once became a phenomenal island in the province because of its beauty.

THE HISTORY: According to the caretaker I spoke to, the name of the islet was given by Father Vargas, who discovered the islet.  This islet is made up of a large stone in irregular shape, covered with grass and trees. A few decades ago, this islet was purely a large stone in the middle of the sea and boat can pass through some of its opening.  But in 1978, the nearby residents were surprised in the appearance of the white sand beside the large stones.  As added by the caretaker, the water level became low. Between 2007-2008 they opened this gorgeous islet to the public.

September 2012, our first step on the island, the owner built cottages by the shore. These quaint cottages added a gorgeous picturesque to the islet, which to attract more tourists. It also brought Puting Buhangin and Dampalitan Island to the limelight. These three island became famous because of the articles and stories on travel blogs, websites and social networking sites. Today,  there are water activities, and tents for rent.
