During our Mt. Kalisungan and Mt. Mabilog hikes, Bunga Twin Falls was our side trip and post climb destination. The ambiance in the area is cool and relaxing because it is surrounded by trees, coconuts and other plans. Its name, Bunga Falls, was derived from the "bunga" plant or "beetle nut" in English; that was many years ago when the area was still abundant with this plant. Today, this twin falls is definitely one of the summer destinations in Laguna.
Bunga Falls is not recommended during rainy season because the water overflows and is prone to accident because the rocks are slippery when wet. It is best during summer because the water is cool and crystal clear while the pressure is perfect for soared muscles. There are a few cottages built by the locals that can be rented.
WHAT TO DO IN BUNGA FALLS: Aside from swimming and dipping into the cool water, you can make your visit extreme by jumping off the cliff into the water. According to the residents, the deep of the pool is more than 20 feet, so for those people who are not into swimming, please lang wag na umarte at wag na magpasikat. There were accidents happened in the area.
HOW TO GET TO BUNGA FALLS: From Manila, you an take a bus bound for Lucena City and alight in San Pablo City, near San Pablo Church. Then, ride in a jeepney to Nagcarlan.
